The Superior Spartan Girls Hockey team moved to 6-0 on the season with a convincing win over North Shore 9-0 at Superior Ice Arena. The Spartans scored 5 goals in the opening period. Opening goal was scored at :35 by #21 Autumn Cooper with assists to #20 Gabryel Olson, #8 Michaela Geissler. Just over a minute later at 1:42 #16 Aaliyah Haroldson would score from assist from #17 Katelyn Stamper. at 2:51 #11 Makaela Reinke would join the scoring on an assist from #17 Katelyn Stamper and #13 Hailey Olby. #11 Makaela Reinke would score her second goal of the game at 3:16 to make it 4-0. Assists on the goal go to #17 Katelyn Stamper and #13 Hailey Olby. Final goal of the 1st period would also go the #11 Makaela Reinke, her 3rd of the game. Assists credited to #9 Kenlyn Thimm and #21 Autumn Cooper.
The second period settled down as only one goal scored in the period by #27 Adalyn Benson with assists to #17 Katelyn Stamper and #3 Paislee Lystig. The Spartans took a 6-0 lead into the 2nd intermission.
The Spartans would get back on the scoring train in the 3rd with #16 Aaliyah Haroldson scoring her 2nd goal at 2:25. Assists go to #17 Katelyn Stamper and #3 Paislee Lystig. #27 Adalyn Benson would get her 2nd goal of the night at 8:51 of the 3rd period from assists of #22 Emma Ferg and #15 Alexia Kimmes to make it 8-0 Spartans. Final goal of the game came at 15:20 to #20 Gabryel Olson and assist to #14 Olivia Pendergast which pushed the Spartans to 6-0 and at 9-0 victory. North Shore goalie #35 Harper Powell took the loss while saving 29 shots on 38 attempts. Superior Goaltender #1 Kaylie Nault had 23 saves in the shutout victory.
The Spartans will have a big Lake Superior Conference game on Thursday night at mars Lakeview Arena as they will travel to take on the 10-1 Duluth Marshall Hilltoppers at 7PM.
