The Spartan Girls Hockey team notched another win to move to 15-1 on the season. The Spartans hosted the Eau Claire Area Stars at Wessman Arena. Did not take Spartans long to settle into a different home rink as they scored at 1:20 mark in the 1st. #3 PaisLee Lystig scored (#22 Emma Ferg, #27 Addy Benson) that opening goal. The Stars would answer with a goal from #21 Aubee Wolle and assist to #15 Hailey Stanek. The Spartans light the lamp two more times in the opening frame with goals goals coming from #22 Emma Ferg (#27 Addy Benson, #3 PaisLee Lystig) at 8:27. Last goal scored at 8:41 by #4 Isabella Thompson. Spartans took a 3-1 lead into the first intermission. The second period play was held by Superior as they were able to score two more times. Goals coming from #27 Addy Benson (#28 Maddy Bachand) short handed at 8:57 and goal by by #17 Katie Stamper (#21 Autumn Cooper) with a nice wrist shot inside the left post to make the score 5-1 at end of 2. The third period the Stars came back quickly as they scored in the first :21 with a goal to #26Katie Roberts (#6 April Vocke). The Stars score againn at 11:32 on a unassisted goal to #16 Molly Wright. That brought score to 5-3. The Spartans would close the comeback as they scored the final two goals of the game. Those goals going to #27 Addy Benson and goal to #4 Isabella Thompson (#9 Kenlyn Thimm). Final score was 7-3 which felt was a closer game due to the competitiveness. The Spartans will be back to their home ice of Superior Ice Arena on Tuesday January 9th as they will host Cloquet-Esko-Carlton. Tonight's Nummmi Jeweler Gem of the Game was awarded to Superior's #27 Addy Benson.
