Final regular season game of the 2023-24 season highlighted some fancy goals. Tonight's game opened with a nice give and go on the break for Western Wisconsin's leading scorer #4 Izzy Johnson(#3 Ashley Jensen, #8 Gabby Thomsen) at 6:04 of the 1st period. The Spartans answered at 7:58 when #22 Emma Ferg (#21 Autumn Cooper, #27 Addy Benson) tapped in the rebound on the left post to tie 1-1. The Star's #6 Chloe Julson scored at 9:04. Spartans would answer with 2 goals to close out the opening period. #20 Gabby Olson (#4 Isabella Thompson) scored at 10:44 as she found the puck loose behind the goalie. Final goal of the 1st was #21 Autumn Cooper (#27 Addy Benson) with a beautiful display of puck control to take the lead 3-2 into first intermission. 

The Spartans would own the 2nd period as they generated another 3 goals to lead 6-2. The first goal was a great pass from #27 Addy Benson to #21 Autumn Cooper at 5:28. #21 Autumn Cooper (#13 Hailey Olby, #22 Emma Ferg) would score again at 11:32 for the hat trick. Final goal was scored by #20 Gabby Olson (#4 Isabella Thompson, #11 Makaela Reinke) for her second goal of the evening. The third period was spirited play as the young Western Wisconsin Stars continued to play hard, but no scoring for either team. Goaltender Kaylie Nault end the night with 18 saves on 20 shots. The Spartans will now prepare for the WIAA Playoffs as they will host the winner of #4 seed Wisconsin Valley Union and #5 Seed Northland Pines Co-op February 20th at Superior Ice Arena. iFan Sports Network will carry that game live.
