Balanced Attack Makes it 12 in a row for UWS Yellowjackets

The UWS Yellowjackets Women’s Basketball team defeated Bethany Lutheran College by a final score of 75-66. 

The leading scorer for the Yellowjackets was Bailee Bartunek with a total of 14 points.  She also led the team with nine rebounds. 

In the first half, the Yellowjackets shot 40.5% from the field.  Hannah Norlin scored five points off the bench.  She finished the game scoring six points.  The Yellowjackets were 2-11 from beyond the three point arc and hit 87.5% of their free throw attempts.  The score after the half was the Yellowjackets 39, Vikings 35.

The leading scorers for the Vikings were Minnie Frederick and Briana Brandts, who both finished with 19 points.  Brandts led the team with nine rebounds. 

Hailee Kontny scored ten points for the Yellowjackets.  Justine Larson scored 11.  Hadley Skalmoski grabbed six rebounds, and Allie Nelson led the team with seven rebounds.

The Yellowjackets shot 45% from the field, going 3-15 from the three point arc, while hitting 13-19 from the 3-point line.  Bethany Lutheran shot 44.6% from the field, going 3-15 from beyond the 3-point line, while hitting 13-19 from the free throw line.

The Yellowjackets finished with 11 turnovers.  The Vikings finished with 14. 

The next game for the Yellowjackets will be against Northalnd College in Ashland on Friday, January 29th.  Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.  The Yellowjackets have an impressive record of 15-2, with an undefeated record in conference play this year.
