Zach Schradle leads Jackets with a Double Double

The UWS Yellowjacket’s Men’s Basketball team won against Finlanda University by a final score of 81-72.  The leading scorer for the Yellowjackets was Zach Schradle with 20 points.  He also added 15 rebounds for the team.

The Lions led after halftime by a score of 29-26.  Jordan LaPlant led the Lions with 14 points in the half and finished the game scoring 21 points.  LaPlant was 7-15 shooting from the field and made all six of his free throw attempts.  Zach Schradle scored seven points for the Yellowjackets during the half.  It was a slow start for the Yellowjackets.

In the second half, the Yellowjackets caught fire, outscoring the Lions 55-43.  Nate Kalien scored nine points during this period and finished the game with 14 total points.  Kalien connected on 1-4 3-point attempts.  Montroy Scott added 13 points off the bench for the Yellowjackets.  Vid Milenkovic had ten total rebounds and scored 11 points while leading the team with four assists.

As a team, the Yellowjackets shot 47.5% from the field and connected on 23.5% of their 3-point attempts.  They also hit 67.9% of their free-throw attempts.  They also outrebounded the Lions 48-37.  The turnover battle was evenly matched, with the Lions protecting it better by 9-10.  The Yellowjackets committed 25 personal fouls, compared to the Lions committing 23 as a team.

Attendance was low at only 65 people. The Yellowjackets currently have a record of .500 at 10-10.  They are 6-5 in conference play. The next game for the Yellowjackets is at home against Crown College on February 5th.  Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
